Currents for Currents
Our entry to the Blueprints MADE for 2050 competition, a coastal housing design for Rio Hondo, Zamboanga and Sitangkay Island, Tawi-Tawi. The objective is to create a self-sustaining community through architecture that doesn't disrupt the way of life of the natives in the areas. Inspired from the sails of boats in the Sulu region, each structure is equipped at the base with wave generators that will produce electricity for the whole community. The houses will be made of molded plastic, the sails embedded with solar cells to provide a secondary energy source.
